After Delivery

Fathers, grandparents and siblings of the baby will be allowed to visit anytime except during the times that there are visitor restrictions due to Flu. The baby may be in the room while visitors are present, if the parents wish. Visitors will be asked to wash their hands, especially before holding the baby. Visitors with contagious illnesses or infections should refrain from visiting. Exceptions to the posted visiting hours are made upon the mother’s request.

For the safety and well being of our new families, we ask all visitors coming to MMH to self monitor for any illness including flu-like symptoms and refrain from visiting if you are ill. Flu-like symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, headache, fatigue, body aches, vomiting or diarrhea.

Rest Periods

The process of childbirth is very stressful. Most mothers find they need extra rest. We would like to encourage you to rest as much as you need. Tell your nurse and arrangements will be made to provide you with the quiet time you need.

Feeding Times

Babies at Meeker Memorial Hospital are generally fed on a demand schedule, which means they usually eat every two to three hours. If you desire a different schedule, please let us know.

We encourage moms and babies to be together as much as possible. Your newborn will remain with you unless you request care to be provided in our nursery.

If you have questions regarding breastfeeding, our nursing staff will assist you. Arrangements can be made for our lactation educator to visit you.

Visiting Guidelines

The mother may choose whom she wishes to stay with her. We encourage only one or two people, although exceptions will be made at the mother’s request.
