Our rehabilitation services are provided by a team of highly skilled physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech/language pathologists. Rehabilitation providers work with you to meet your goals and highest potential, wherever you are in your path to recovery. We want to help you return to a healthy, functioning lifestyle, whether it is at home, in the workplace, on the athletic field or at a local health club.
Rehabilitation is often an essential part of your plan of care after a musculoskeletal injury or surgery. Your doctor may order rehabilitation as one of the first steps towards recovery. Meeker Memorial Hospital offers the full spectrum of services to keep you progressing throughout your entire recovery, from your acute illness, to outpatient rehabilitation, to your return back to activity and sports.
During your inpatient stay at Meeker Memorial Hospital, your physician may request that you are evaluated by our rehabilitation staff. Our occupational and physical therapists’ role in your recovery is to ensure that you are strong, mobile and safe enough to return home. They will also help coordinate with your family and/or caregivers to ensure your successful return to normal activity. In the event that you are not able to return home quite yet, your team will work with you and your family and/or caregivers to ensure that you are receiving the proper level of care after discharge
In the event that you are not ready to return home, our Swingbed services may be the ideal stop in your transition back home, and may be an alternative to a short-term nursing home stay. This extended “subacute” stay, will include more extensive rehabilitation while still providing the nursing care you will need until you are safe to return home to your own bed. You will want to consult with the hospital’s social workers to ensure that this is an option for you.
Our outpatient rehabilitation department offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services. Rehabilitation has been shown to be an effective conservative management strategy for many musculoskeletal, post-surgical, neurological, medical and developmental conditions. Outpatient rehabilitation is generally essential for recovery after an orthopedic surgery or other condition to help you regain your range of motion, strength, balance and functional performance. Often, rehabilitation can help you avoid more involved tests and treatments such as MRIs, injections, referrals to specialists or surgery. Your surgeon may even ask you to participate in rehabilitation as part of your journey leading up to surgery to help ensure the best post-surgical outcome.
